
President and Principal Consultant: Alexandra
Mitchell
Alexandra Mitchell founded Pathfinder Solutions,
Inc. in 2006. She provides services as an independent consultant to a variety of types of clients including foundations, professional
associations, non-profit organizations, and government agencies. Alex has a particularly strong background in research and
evaluation, program development, education, and providing training and technical assistance for organizational capacity building.
Across her career, Alex has specifically focused on providing authentic support and fostering positive, tangible outcomes
for underserved populations of diverse age, gender, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. Her work has crossed the fields
of health, education, positive youth development, aging, the environment, cultural competency, foundation and nonprofit organizational
capacity, leadership and governance.
Alex’s professional experience in these areas spans 25+ years.
She has been involved with research and evaluation work since 1989, has been a high school and university teacher, a nonprofit
program director, and cross-cultural consultant. Her written work has been published by Harvard University
and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and her programs have won several prestigious awards.
Projects Alex has participated
in range from small-scale, locally-focused efforts, to broad-based multi-state and multi-agency assignments. She has worked
on many different research and evaluation projects funded by, e.g., the Council on Foundations, Robert Wood Johnson, and Annie
E Casey. She has guided the development and evaluation of noteworthy programs for national or multi-state organizations such
as the Conference of Southwest Foundations, the National Association of Adult Protective Services, and the Region VIII Health
Resources and Services Administration. Alex has also worked with foundations and public agencies such as the Colorado Department
of Public Health and Environment and the Tri-County Health Department to provide capacity-building technical assistance to
both urban and rural community-based nonprofit organizations such as Colorado’s South Central Council on Governments
and the Center for African American Health.

Personal Alex grew up between Europe and the United States, has American and Swedish (EU) citizenship, and is
tri-lingual. She loves to immerse herself in other cultures, has traveled far off the beaten path in many countries around
the world, and has worked closely with people from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds for many years. All
the photos on this web site (except one) are from her travels or work experiences. Alex strives to balance her life with fun, friends and family, being outdoors as much as possible, hiking,
running, skiing, and reading a good book.
